Argan Oil

Another versatile skincare product is argan oil. High in fatty acids with a slightly fruity aroma, the oil glides easily onto skin and sinks in quickly. Argan oil is said to be great for treating stretch marks and eczema. It is highly moisturizing and lessens fine lines and wrinkles if used regularly. The oil is also used frequently by people suffering from acne as it has a remarkable ability: it reduces oily shine on skin.

As with so many plant species the argan tree is now under threat from extinction. Once a commonly seen tree all over Northern Africa, argan trees are now only found in pockets in Morocco where they have been put under UNESCO protection. The trees now provide a desperately needed income source for the Berber tribes who collect the nuts and produce argan oil using mechancial extraction methods which speeds up the process of obtaining the oil but still leaves the quality and nutrients in argan oil intact. The shelf life of argan oil is 12 – 18  months without having to use preservatives and if the oil is stored correctly (at room temperature or cooler and dark).

Argan Rhassoul Soap

I have been using argan oil as a day and night „cream“ for the last month or so and I noticed a visible difference in my skin’s elasticity. It seems smoother and more supple and well hydrated. I am also using argan oil in my new rhassoul argan soap which I am starting to sell from May 2011. The soap takes a long time to cure but is highly beneficial to people suffering from thinning hair as it seems to thicken hair and leave it moisturized rather than stipped of all oils. Well worth the wait….
